Red Rock History Tours Inaugurated by Sedona Heritage Museum in October 2010
In response to the overwhelming popularity of their Oak Creek Canyon historic sites tour, the Sedona Heritage Museum has developed a new tour about the history of the Red Rock area. The tours are October 6, 16 and 21, departing each day at 9 a.m.
Hear the history of 'Red Rock' before there was a Sedona. The Museum's tour will follow Red Rock Loop Road, with visits to homesteads and other historic points of interest. The tour will be led by Sherman Loy, grandson of 'Red Rock' pioneers, the Schuermans. Mr. Loy will tell the history of the area and point out hidden points of historical interest. Highlights include the Armijo homestead house, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Red Rock Cemetery, the area's first cemetery.
A luxury 14-passenger bus will carry tour-goers for the approximately 3 hour-long tour. Space is limited so call or come to the Museum between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. any day for your tickets. Prices are $50 for Sedona Historical Society members and $55 for non-members. 928-282-7038.

Engages Diamond Resorts for resort management and sales and marketing operations
ILX Acquisition, Inc., today announced its successful acquisition of a substantial portion of the assets of ILX Resorts Incorporated. ILX Acquisition, Inc. will set in place a plan for the future strategic growth and value of the organization as a whole, and for the more than 25,000 timeshare owners and ten resorts located in the United States and Mexico.
ILX Acquisition, Inc. has appointed Diamond Resorts Management, Inc. to immediately assume resort management services and homeowner association oversight at Los Abrigados Resort & Spa, The Inn at Los Abrigados and Premiere Vacation Club at Bell Rock in Sedona, Arizona; Premiere Vacation Club at the Roundhouse Resort in Pinetop, Arizona; Kohl's Ranch Lodge in Payson, Arizona; VCA - Tucson Chapter, in Tucson, Arizona; The Historic Crags Lodge in Estes Park, Colorado; and VCA - South Bend Chapter in Mishawaka, Indiana. In addition, ILX Acquisition, Inc. has appointed Diamond Resorts Management, Inc. to manage the inventory in the Premiere Vacation Club which includes inventory in the above resorts as well as inventory at the following locations in Arizona and Nevada: Roundhouse Resort, The Carriage House and Scottsdale Camelback Resort. Furthermore, ILX Acquisition, Inc., through its Mexican subsidiary, has entered into an agreement with a third party to manage operations at the Sea of Cortez Premiere Vacation Club in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico.
Owners and members with timeshare usage rights at these resorts will be unaffected by this acquisition. According to Stephen J. Come celebrate diversity and community on the banks of beautiful Oak Creek. Sedona Pride is hosting their 2nd Annual "Pride on the Rocks" Saturday, September 25, 2010 creek side under the sycamore trees in Tlaquepaque located at 336 State Route 179 in Sedona Arizona. The event runs from 11 am to 7pm and tickets are $10.00 for a Pride Pass, $10.00 for the post-event evening dance, $15.00 for a Pride Pass/Evening Dance Combo, and the VIP Ticket at $50.00 allows entry to all events. Last year's Pride Event kicked off with an opening welcome from the President of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, Jennifer Wesselhoff and Mayor Rob Adams also addressed the crowd of almost 1,000 participants.Supporters from all over the country attended last year's Pride event and helped make the freshman event a grand success. Last year's Pride event boasted various musical artists and performers that kept the crowds dancing and entertained for the entire festival. This year's Pride on the Rocks event promises to be even more entertaining, with various fundraising and social events scheduled all throughout August and early September that will lead up to the Pride on the Rocks date on September 25th. Registration for the Sedona Heritage Museum's annual Fall Arts & Crafts Show is now open for new vendors.The show is scheduled for Saturday, October 23rd at the Museum in Uptown Sedona from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.Remaining spaces are limited and only for artists and craftspeople offering hand-made items.
In past years, local quality artists and craftspeople have displayed for sale their handmade items including jewelry, gourd art, hand painted and hand-made home decor and wearable arts, quilts, glass art, ceramics, artwork, handmade cards and other items.The Museum will have a simultaneous bake sale of homemade goodies.Admission to the show will be free to the public.

Bell Rock Vista and Courthouse Butte Trailhead restrooms temporarily closed Sept
Sedona, AZ - The Coconino National Forest will soon begin improving access to existing restrooms at two popular trailheads on the Red Rock Ranger District. This includes the Bell Rock Vista and Courthouse Butte trailhead parking areas located north of the Village of Oak Creek along State Route 179. Construction work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 7 and is expected to be complete by October 22. Although daily trailhead parking is still available, construction activity may create some inconvenience between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., including weekends.
Restrooms will remain closed throughout the construction period.
Facility improvements will include a new information kiosk at the Court House Butte Trailhead and new concrete walkways and handrails at both the Court House Butte and Bell Rock Vista trailheads to improve public restroom access. There will be some earthwork involved around the buildings and will require earth moving equipment. Overall improvements will provide easier access and ultimately, a better experience for visitors.
During the construction period, alternative restroom facilities are available at the Red Rock Visitor Information Office located south of the Village of Oak Creek or the Little Horse Trailhead, located approximately 2.5 miles north of the Bell Rock Vista Trailhead.

Visitors are invited to experience the Snakes in Sedona exhibit on Sept 5, 2010
Sedona, AZ - Once again, the public is invited to experience Snakes in Sedona at the Red Rock Ranger District, Saturday September 4 and Sunday September 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visitors can see - and maybe even touch - some of the Sedona area's native snakes. This popular exhibit is being brought back this Labor Day weekend for the public to enjoy.
From Rattlers to Kings, the Red Rock District's marvelous landscape provides habitat for a spectrum of our slithery neighbors. Snake Specialists Russell Dunn and Karen McClellend will showcase their collection of snakes, educating visitors on habitats, behaviors, and feeding habits of the different species common to this part of Arizona.
The Red Rock Visitor Office is located at 8375 State Route 179, approximately 7 miles south of Sedona and one mile south of the Village of Oak Creek. No reservations are necessary; come any time. This event is being hosted by the Coconino National Forest and the Arizona Natural History Association. City of Sedona First Notice of Audit Letters Mailed
At the June 8th Council meeting, Sedona City Council approved the contract to hire Albert Holler & Associates to perform tax auditing services effective July 1, 2010.The firm has over 35 years in sales tax auditing and administration, and currently performs audits for cities and towns throughout Arizona.Since July 1st, the firm has analyzed taxpayer records and presented an initial list of businesses selected for audit to the City.
As a result, the first set of businesses is being contacted via mail to notify each of their selection "to receive an examination of your books and records relative to the tax for the period August 2004 through July 2010".The letter will arrive on City of Sedona letterhead and will direct a representative to contact Roger Okin at 480-241-7976 within ten days of receipt to arrange for the examination.

Leading these fitness walks will be instructor Tracy Geurts.Ms. Geurts is a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer and Certified Wellness Coach.She has over 20 years experience in the health and fitness industry.After spending many hours appreciating the beautiful and diverse Sedona landscape and fresh air, Tracy was inspired to take her personal training outdoors as much as possible.
Are you interested?Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.Classes have begun and will continue on through the fall as long as the weather is pleasant and participation is consistent.Participants will meet at the Recreation Room located near the multi-use field in Posse Grounds Park, 525 Posse Ground Road in Sedona.
