Local performers' concert at St. John Vianney on Oct 9 in Sedona

SEDONA, AZ (Sept 15, 2009) - A stellar list of local performers will be participating in "Perspectives of Peace and Justice..for People and the Planet: a multi-media event!" at 7PM Friday, October 9 at St. John Vianney Church at 180 Soldiers Pass Rd in Sedona. The community-wide, interfaith event is free and open to the public announced Teri Bays, Music and Liturgy Director at SJV and producer of the event.

According to Bays, "We have a cross section of performers including singers, musicians, actors, poets, dancers, filmmakers and artists performing and exhibiting works that speak to one of the many peace and justice topics today, local and world issues affecting people and the planet, issues they feel strongly about." Included in the performance roster is Dr. Robert Bays performing a monologue from the play "Exonerated" addressing the death penalty, Frank Robinson's music trio singing "Blowin' in the Wind," Mary Heyborne reading poetry addressing care of the earth and creation, and Zaphira performing Neda's Dance in honor of "Neda Iran," the young girl killed by security forces in Iran who has become a martyr for the protesters who are still fronting the streets every day.

Other performers include Shondra Jepperson, Teri Bays, David Harvey, Katherine LaTorraca, the St. John Vianney Choir, Ken Beller, Heather Chase, Pash Galhavy, the Red Rock Handbell Duet, and Michia Casebier. Each day more performers and artists are signing up to perform their personal perspectives on peace and justice issues. This is an event you won't want to miss.

There is no charge for the program. Instead, those who attend are encouraged to give, in service or money, to a cause that is dear to their own heart.  Artists' CDs will be for sale in the Social Hall.  Refreshments will be available.  Tables will also be in the social hall for local organizations to provide information about their services and volunteer opportunities. For more information about participating in the event, contact Teri Bays at 274-0674.
